Job Opportunity
Newtown United Methodist Church is seeking an administrative assistant to oversee the administrative operations of the church. The position reports directly to the Pastor and supports the various church committees.
Duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Aiding pastor in developing the bulletin for each Sunday service.
Creating graphics, flyers, placemats, etc.
Ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
Preparing, distributing, and disseminating mail and email correspondence as needed.
Screening and routing all incoming calls and visitors.
Maintaining the church’s membership list and notify relevant stakeholders of updates with members.
Manage church presence on social media.
Assisting the Pastor in areas such as coordinating weddings, baptisms, funerals, and other special events.
Preparing other reports as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate should be:
A professional with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Can work independently.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), including performing a mail merge, knowledge of how to insert basic functions and perform a data sort in Excel.
Familiarity with Google applications and experience with Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp and Events Calendar a plus.
Be courteous, friendly, with a professional manner and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate confidentiality, tact, patience, and diplomacy with ability to handle sensitive calls and situations and refer them appropriately.
Be a team player.
