How to edit or create and event

When you first log in, you are brought to the home page of the web site. From here, you can read posts, post comments to the posts that have already been created or view the events calendar.

To create a new post or add/edit an event on the calendar

  1. You must be logged in
  2. You must click on the link at the right that says “Site Admin,” which takes you to the “Dashboard“.

The Dashboard gives you a high level view of posting activity. From here click on one of the options at the top; Write, Manage, Comments, Calendar.

How to edit or create an event

Let’s say you want to post a new event… you would click on Calendar and this would bring you to the Manage Calendar page. You fill out the form to add your event.

  1. Event Title – A short 1-4 word title
  2. Event Description – This can be pretty lengthy and will pop up when a person “mouses over” the event title
  3. Event Category – This is a drop down selection and color codes the event on the calendar.
  4. Event Link (Optional) - I used this only for the church fair so far, but if you have also entered a post on the event, you can copy and paste the url in this box and the reader can click it in the calendar and will be redirected to that link.
  5. Start Date Select Date – The event date
  6. End Date Select Date – Do not let this confuse you, it is not for recurring events, it should always be the same as the start date, otherwise your entry would be every day until this date.
  7. Time (hh:mm)(optional, set blank if not required) Current time difference from GMT is -4 hour(s): This is a military time interval, although it will appear correctly in the calendar. (i.e. 13:00 = 1:00 PM, 14:30= 2:30 PM, etc..)
  8. Recurring Events
    • Repeats for: If it is a regular recurring event, like Sunday services, I generally set the number to 10 and weeks, depending on the event.
